3 Tips To Make Your Kitchen Pantry Clutter-Free

Sarah Aubrey, 13/10/2020

Is there anything better than an ultra-organised pantry? The answer, quite frankly, is no. There is almost nothing we love more than a clutter-free cupboard with everything neatly arranged and just within our reach.

The kitchen pantry is one of the areas in the home that is often neglected. Being such a high-traffic area, it’s easy for pantries to quickly become a magnet for clutter and major chaos! But the benefits to re-organising this space go further than just good looks, you’ll also save time and effort unpacking your groceries and you’ll never have to rustle around for midnight snacks ever again.

Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to turn your pantry into an organised dream. Whether you’re in the process of building a new home or updating your existing kitchen, here are three fail-safe ways to give your pantry a makeover.

Label everything:

Give your pantry a uniform, seamless look by labelling everything in matching containers or glass jars. Labelling your containers won’t just look aesthetically pleasing but it will help you find exactly what you’re looking for in a glance. Not to mention, storing things like your pasta, grains and flour in airtight containers will keep them fresh for longer. Pro tip: Add the use-by date to your little labels to keep track of how fresh everything is.

Organise by frequency:

The whole point of having a beautifully organised pantry is for it to be functional. The best way to achieve this is to store your items with purpose, with the things you reach for the most at the front. Start by sorting your things into groups with similar things i.e. put your cereals, spreads and breakfast items into one section. It can be handy to create ‘zones’ on your shelves for breakfast, snacks and dinner!

But remember, your ‘zones’ should be based on how often you need them. For example, keep your emergency midnight snacks out of your direct line of sight while placing your breakfast foods at the front.

Choose a walk-in pantry option:

Just like the humble walk-in wardrobe, a built-in pantry can be an easy answer to your storage woes. Having some kind of built-in storage can be a real game-changer and it’s one the best ways to maintain an organised pantry.
